Wow badges took off a bit better than expected o_O LOL So just incase anyone is reading this -the website had to evolve -I had to kind of reinvent the Pending box... I don't want to turn anyone away and I don't really want to make anyone pay too far out just incase I get really swamped with life in general (example: gone for the entire upcoming weekend with a huge parade and double competition, then sometime in the next couple weeks I have some heavy serious freelance commissions, then I am going on somewhat of a real honest vacation lol, then Anthrocon is around the corner followed by huge highland games) *breathe* anyways -yeah that's the kind of stuff that life is made of -with lots of furry art in between! wheeee lol So, since I don't feel comfortable giving myself a hard deadline on latter badge requests, I'm giving the option to pay or not until they're about to be moved into the Active box -of course if not paid then no move but I'd give a few days notice when they get close -and the paid ones would just keep moving up in line. WOOT!! I am finally getting it off the ground! It's been a dern long month hammering out a website everyday after work -hardly new what I was doing but there's a furry coding genius among us who I could not have done it without his help *cough*Ayulf*cough* -and had a lot of help from many other friends as well =) Today I am pulling back the curtain on the project.... http://www.scape-thegoat.comLet me know what you think! =)
I hardly post to LJ but I've got a nice day off and the Greensboro meet yesterday was fun and deserving of a good post -plus I feel the responsibility of posting since I was the "Honorary Wallywolf" LOL
Unlike Wally's wonderful memory/goodtimes chalked posts mine is going to be much more Scape-ish; all very condensed and practically bullet points ;) so here we go...
Got up at 7am, drove 1-1/2hrs for 10am band practice -got done at 1:30pm and headed straight for the new Starbucks meet location off of Wendover ave. Got there at 3pm and heard that CrusaderCat had been there since noon lol. We split to Gibson Park down the street were Crusader and I played a bunch of tunes together ending with happy birthday for the three girls who were celebrating and finished it all off with a good rickroll for the hundreds of people out on the soccer fields ;) Off to meet for 5:30 dinner at Elizabeth's Pizza where we finally had the whole crew tally of 10; me, Crusader, Dave, Teej, Fruiitbat, Cap'n Cougar, Yumi, Hoss, Magnus and Violet (Lavender? -a shade of purple for sure lol). Then it was off to the skate rink for lots of fun -the girls didn't skate but they seemed to be having a great time walking around entertaining folks. I skated out of suit for a good solid hour and Scaped up when the zamboni came out. I absolutely had a blast with all the kids and parents -many games of stackpaws, paper-rock-scissors, and patty cake were had -squeaky high fives were the hit -and actually were what won over a lot of the initially indifferent adults lol. My secret recipe this time was: walk past them so they get the satisfaction of "oh good the mascot passed me by", try and fail to eat a gumball machine a few feet away, play a little game with another person and then reach over for a highfive and the 'indifferent' seemed guaranteed to highfive back and actually get a good laugh -*sigh* -happy times =) Last night I also felt like I connected with the ice rink employees much more as well -a lot more hamming it up and thumbs up too -they are fantastic people.
Everything was pretty much blissfully awesome except one note worthy scenario that ought to be documented here. I was warned there were a few mean little tail pullers out there but nothing prepared me for what would come. In the first ten seconds I was on the ice I felt a kid or two bump into my back -happens all the time no big deal -but immediately a giggling kid skated straight at me and dove onto the ice and it all unfolded in a split second -I obviously toppled face first over the kid and smack onto the ice which was followed by really really rough tail pulling and shoving -my rescue was Teej's stern tones to the kids to leave me alone (Teej I forgot to thank you immensely for that, bro). Almost instant retrospect was that it was all planned by the kids -the one who dove was giggling the entire time not like he fell accidentally and the tail puller was on me too fast for coincidence -either way I can only thank the Lord that I didn't hurt the kid that I landed on with my knees and or skates (actually had just enough reaction time to feel that concern) and thank goodness I tried to land flat out -I could have broken my jaw, nose or wrists pretty easily were it not for the padding in Scape -the only thing awry was one paw unsnapped when I came down. wow.
Other than that, what a night! We headed for Coldstone afterwards were Fruiitbat got "cake batter" icecream as her b-day cake and we split from there. Got back home at 2am and sleeeeep.
Can't wait to do it all again one of these upcoming months!

Friday got off work and chatted with Wallywolf for a good bit on the phone and then ordered some stuff from digikey for my secret fwa project. Shanthi got home from work and I made soup and then cleaned up a bunch of junk around the house. I was exhausted and went to bed early.
Saturday I got up to find a card and some chocolates on my computer -Gah! I had to wait until she was in the shower to put her card and chocolates and... Goat plushie on her computer ;) We headed to coffee shop where we met Zeitfox and then Shanthi's colleague came in to talk business and hire her woot! Then it was back home to celebrate with a Haggis dinner complete with neeps and tatties -although the Haggis was only the Stahly foods kind -it was still pretty good with the shot of Drambuie and splash of cream.
Sunday would have been the norm with a Scape-hospital gig and band practice but this time Shanthi was along for the ride since her dad was going to be passing through the area and would have a chance to meet up briefly. The gig at the hospital was over the top -she meant to just knit in the lobby while the coordinator and I made our rounds but by some wild twist of fate Shanthi was asked if she could accompany me o_O -she was showed around and given a list of rooms while I suited up. This was also the first visit where I put on Shanthi's Grandfather's old cowbell that I restored and polished and also where I brought silk flowers for the patients. The bell was so wonderful with a much more subdued tintinnabulation as not to wake the sleeping patients or disturb the nurses. The flowers were the hit with Shanthi scolding me for trying to eat them before handing the patient the little tangible gift -which always brought about a chuckle. Next we met a piping buddy at the Scottish shop and headed down the mountain to practice where we ended up meeting Shanthi's dad and his news of having eloped! o_O and then my phone text buzzed in the middle of the band circle and when I checked it -it was a photo of my friend's Girlfriend's hand... with a ring on it!! o_O O_o wow
Then it was off to dinner at the TapRoom with some band friends and then back up the mountain.
yeah... this was a weekend certainly worth pausing busyness to post lol |
